afterwards, i headed to my ultrasound. i was a little anxious for the results but knew in my gut things were not quite right. i even told luke last night that i thought my belly was smaller than it was the day before. welp, my gut was right. ultrasound revealed baby is measuring a little over 6 lbs (25th percentile which is great!) and that my amniotic fluid dropped to a "dangerously low" level of 4.4. my midwife said that the baby needs to come now.
i was then sent directly to labor and delivery and hooked up to the monitors. going home first was not an option- not safe. after an hour of sitting in my room, my nurse came in and asked if i was feeling the contractions. i told her yes, but they were just braxton-hicks which i had with noah and this baby for months. she said "well, they are coming every 4-5 minutes." i guess i was not really timing them. she checked me and i was dilated to a one. a couple hours later, dilated to a two. i guess baby senses her current living situation is a little cramped and decided to come on her own. either that or i totally stressed myself into labor. lol.
soooooo now we wait. my contractions have started to space out so, they are going to let me try to rest and then most likely start pitocin (suck) if things haven't picked up in a couple of hours.
right now, baby is doing great and i am doing great. it has been such a different experience coming to the hospital and going into labor like this- completely more relaxing and calm than it was with noah. it is crazy to think that we are going to meet our little girl soon. it honestly doesn't feel real.
please pray for baby girl and a safe delivery.

Oh my GOSH Amy!!! Good luck! I'm sure everything will be just fine. Noah's sis will be here and you'll be having sleepless nights yet again. :) I'll be thinking about ya!
Wow, up to the minute labor updates via blog. That is impressive! She'll be a January babe just like you. Some of the best things happen a little unexpectedly. I'm waiting anxiously for updates!
EEEEEK!!!! Congrats!! Sounds like she is a good size and things will get cooking on their own! Babies often know when they need to come out :) Sounds like your mama instincts were spot on. Praying for you guys tonight. Can't wait to hear her name, and her story, I am sure both will be beautiful... just like her mama.
Best of luck Amy! I am sure everything will go wonderfully and can't wait to read all about baby girl:) Sending prayers your way!
